Day Camp Director

We are hiring energetic leaders to serve as summer Camp Directors at our Camp Half Blood, Camp Jupiter, and Daring Girls Summer programs. Camp Directors are responsible for creating engaging environments for campers to explore their love of stories and adventure using Plato Learning’s play-based literacy model. They guide the experience with their Leadership Team and Counselors to keep Camp running at its full potential, and set a heroic example for their staff through service-leadership. Camp Directors also create healthy relationships with our parents, and parks- juggling the needs of many, while keeping the camper experience and staff mentorship as their top priorities.

Sleepaway Camp Director

We are hiring an energetic leader to serve as summer Camp Director at our sleepaway location in Cold Spring, NY. Camp Directors are responsible for creating engaging environments for campers to explore their love of stories and adventure using Plato Learning’s play-based literacy model. They guide the experience with their Leadership Team and Counselors to keep Camp running at its full potential, and set a heroic example for their staff through service-leadership. Camp Directors also create healthy relationships with our parents and facilities, juggling the needs of many, while keeping the camper experience and staff mentorship as their top priorities.

Day Camp Counselor

We are hiring energetic and creative leaders to serve as Camp Counselors at all camp locations. Counselors are responsible for leading a group of 7-14 year-old camper ‘demigods’ on their weekly camp journey through the world of mythology, and for developing them into the heroes they were destined to become. Plato’s immersive storytelling weaves a mythology-inspired adventure throughout the camp week, culminating in an action-packed “Quest”. Counselors lead demigods on Quest within their parks, helping them to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while interacting with actors playing monsters and heroes alike.

Sleepaway Camp Counselor

We are hiring energetic and creative leaders to serve as Camp Counselors at our sleepaway camp location. Counselors are responsible for leading a group of 10-15 year-old camper ‘demigods’ on their weekly camp journey through the world of mythology, and for developing them into the heroes they were destined to become. Plato’s immersive storytelling weaves a mythology-inspired adventure throughout the camp week, culminating in an action-packed “Quest”. Counselors lead demigods on Quest at our site, helping them to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while interacting with actors playing monsters and heroes alike.

Day Camp Operations Coordinator

We are hiring organized, energetic leaders to serve as outdoor Operations Coordinator at several locations. Operations Coordinators maintain first aid responsibilities and all the material resources for camp, keeping theadventure running safely and smoothly for all ‘demigod’ campers and staff.

Sleepaway Camp Operations Coordinator

We are hiring an organized role model and energetic leader to serve as the outdoor Operations Coordinator at our overnight camp location. The Operations Coordinator will assist the Health Supervisor and maintain all the material resources for camp, keeping the adventure running safely and smoothly for all ‘demigod’ campers and staff that come to Plato Learning for intense physical play, epic adventures, and unforgettable other-worldly
experiences.

Day Camp Program Coordinator

We are hiring energetic leaders, teaching artists, and adventure role models to serve as Program Coordinators at several Camp Half-Blood, Camp Jupiter, and Daring Girls Program locations. As the Ringleader of Fun, Program Coordinators are responsible for organizing camper-facing fun with flexibility and enthusiasm. They set the tone and manage daily activities for campers of all ages and interests. Additionally, Program Coordinators assist Camp Leadership with daily operations to keep Camp running smoothly.

Day Camp Quest Guide

We are hiring energetic directors of immersive experiences and teaching artists to serve as Quest Guides at several Camp Half-Blood, Daring Girls, and Camp Jupiter location this Summer. This role is responsible for bringing Mythology based stories to life with our campers. While similar to live-action role-playing, we put more emphasis on camper imagination and story interaction than production. The interactive opportunities this role creates gamify the story and support a new week-long adventure arc each camp session. Additionally, Quest Guides assist Camp Leadership with daily operations to keep Camp running smoothly.

Plato’s immersive storytelling weaves a mythology-inspired story throughout a camp week, culminating in an action-packed “Quest” adventure. Campers or “Demigods” use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while interacting with actors playing monsters and heroes in the park.

Sleepaway Camp Quest Guide

We are an energetic leader and adventure role model to serve as summer Quest Guide at our overnight camp. Quest Guides are responsible for enhancing programming and engaging all campers that come to Plato Learning for our brand of hero-training, epic adventures, and unforgettable other-worldly experiences.

Our Quest Guide brings collaborative Myths to life with our campers. While similar to live-action role-playing, we put more emphasis on immersive world-building, prioritizing imagination and camper experience over production. The immersive opportunities this role creates gamify the story and support a new week-long adventure arc each camp session. Additionally, the Quest Guide assists the Camp Director with daily operations to keep Camp running smoothly.

Sleepaway Camp Health Supervisor

We are hiring an organized health and safety professional to serve as the outdoor Health and Safety Coordinator at our overnight camp location. The Health and Safety Coordinator will see to the safety and health needs of our campers and staff onsite during our weeks of programming. In collaboration with the director and Operations Coordinator they keep the adventure running safely and smoothly for all who work and attend Camp Mythik for intense physical play, epic adventures, and unforgettable other-worldly experiences.

Sleepaway Camp Program Assistant - Camp Chronicler

We are looking for an energetic leader and adventure role model to serve as summer Camp Chronicler at our overnight camp. Camp Chroniclers are the Program Assistants responsible for enhancing immersive activities
and engaging all campers. Our Chronicler brings collaborative Mythology inspired stories to life with our campers and staff.

While similar to live-action role-playing, we put more emphasis on interactive
world-building, prioritizing imagination and camper experience over production. This role supports a new week-long adventure arc each camp session, called Quest. This role enhances the narrative by centering Camper creations and input, in collaboration with our Quest Guide, the director of immersive experience at camp.

Sleepaway Camp Media Capture Counselor

We are hiring an energetic and creative leader to serve as our Media Capture Counselor at our sleepaway camp location. The Media Capture Counselor is responsible for assisting with a group of 10-15 year-old camper ‘demigods’ on their weekly camp journey through the world of mythology, and training them as heroes. Plato’s immersive storytelling weaves a mythology-inspired adventure throughout the camp week, culminating in an action-packed “Quest”. Our Media Capture Counselor uses a company-provided DSLR camera and laptop to document and upload images displaying camp’s daily activities and camper/staff interactions to tell a story that shares the magic of camp with our parents.

Questions about hiring? 

You can make an unlisted video on YouTube but you will have to set up a YouTube account to do so.

Here are some helpful instructions:

  1. Log into your YouTube account. You can also log in using a Gmail email address.
  2. Go to the main menu in the top left corner (the three horizontal bars) and select “Your videos.” This should open a new tab called “Channel content.”
  3. Click the blue “Upload videos” button in the middle of the page or the “Create” button in the top right corner. (If you select the “Create” button, you will get a dropdown menu and need to select “Upload videos.”
  4. Select the video file from your computer and go through the quick steps YouTube guides you through to prepare the video to be posted.
  5. In the “Visibility” step, select “Unlisted” as the video’s visibility. This will allow anyone with the link to view the video, but the video will not be posted publicly or be able to be found in a search.
What's the camp schedule?

7:50 am – 4:10 pm, Monday – Friday

5 – 10 weeks of Summer Camp plus 1 week of training (# of weeks depending on location)

What should I expect from a Program Coordinator/Operations Coordinator/Quest Guide Process?

These positions go through two stages of interviews. The first stage is a 45-minutev ideo interview with a member of our Office Headquarters Team, and is an opportunity for you to ask questions about our program while we learn more about you and why you hope to work for us. The second stage is a 60 min video interview with the Camp Director who’d act as your supervisor. 

How old do I need to be to be a Counselor?

All Counselors need to be at least 18 years old at the start of the camp season.

How old do I need to be to be a CIT?

In New York and New Jersey, you must be 16 years of age at the start of the camp season to be a CIT due to state regulations. All other camp locations can accept 15-year-old CITs.

If I could work at more than one location, do I need to submit more than one application?

No, you do not! Please indicate any additional locations you’d like to work at in the “any other locations” question, and we’ll make sure your application reaches the appropriate Camp Directors.

Are Counselors and CITs paid positions? 

At this time all Counselors and CITs are paid positions. Please click on your location’s job description to learn the exact rates.
What should I expect from a Counselor/CIT Interview?

Counselor/CIT Interviews are video interviews on Google Meet that tend to be about 35-55 minutes long. Please feel free to come to us with prepared questions about the program.

Is this a day camp or a sleep-away camp?
  • Camp Mythik is our only Sleep-away Camp Location. Staff work from Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning each week.  Staff get rotating night(s) and one day off per week.
  • All of our other locations are day camps, where staff days run from 7:45 am-4:15 pm Monday-Friday.

Do you offer housing?
  • Camp Mythik offers housing to all Staff. Counselors share a room with another Plato Learning Staff Member and share a cabin and bathroom with 10 campers. 
  • At our day camp programs, we are not able to offer housing for our staff, though we are happy to consider your application if you are able to find housing in the area.

Can I apply if I don’t live in the US?

At this time we are not able to sponsor visas for international staff members. If you already have a visa to work in the US, we are happy to consider your application, but as mentioned in another FAQ, we are not able to offer housing at this time.
